About Our Client
Our client is an established Australian business providing outsourced sales and business development services to organisations across professional services and other business to business sectors.
The company works with clients to identify target markets, connect with senior business decision makers, qualify commercial opportunities and develop sustainable sales pipelines.
Following successful growth in Australia, the business is beginning its expansion into the United Kingdom.
This position will be one of the first dedicated roles supporting that expansion and offers an opportunity to contribute directly to the development of the company's United Kingdom presence.
About the Role
We are recruiting an experienced and commercially minded Corporate Business Development Manager to generate new business opportunities across the United Kingdom market.
Based remotely in South Africa, you will be responsible for identifying prospective clients, initiating commercial conversations and developing opportunities that contribute to the growth of the business.
This is a proactive outbound sales position suited to someone who enjoys prospecting, engaging senior decision makers and developing relationships with prospective clients.
Your responsibilities will combine outbound prospecting, opportunity qualification, discovery meetings and progressing suitable prospects through the sales pipeline.
The role will be divided between supporting an established client campaign and developing new business for the company's United Kingdom operation.
This is not a pure appointment setting position.
We are seeking someone who can confidently generate opportunities and progressively develop the ability to manage the entire sales process independently.
Key Responsibilities
Client Campaign Support | Approximately 1 Day Per Week
You will spend approximately 1 day each week supporting an established client campaign targeting qualified opportunities within the United Kingdom.
Responsibilities include:
• Conduct targeted outbound prospecting into identified organisations.
• Cold call relevant senior decision makers and business contacts.
• Engage prospective customers through telephone calls, email and LinkedIn.
• Qualify prospects against agreed criteria and defined Ideal Customer Profiles.
• Build rapport with decision makers and identify genuine commercial opportunities.
• Schedule qualified meetings for the client's sales team.
• Maintain accurate prospect information, sales activities and opportunity records within the Customer Relationship Management system.
• Follow established messaging, scripts and campaign strategies.
• Work closely with the Sales Operations team to improve campaign effectiveness.
• Achieve agreed prospecting activity, conversation and qualified opportunity targets.
Target lists, contact information, direct telephone numbers, systems, messaging, scripts and campaign training will be provided.
United Kingdom Client Acquisition | Approximately 4 Days Per Week
The majority of your working week will focus on developing new business for the company's growing United Kingdom operation.
Responsibilities include:
• Proactively identify and engage prospective clients within defined United Kingdom target markets.
• Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, email and LinkedIn.
• Build relationships with senior decision makers and initiate meaningful commercial discussions.
• Conduct initial discovery and qualification meetings.
• Understand prospective clients' businesses, challenges and commercial requirements.
• Evaluate whether potential opportunities represent a suitable commercial fit.
• Develop and progress qualified prospects through the business to business sales pipeline.
• Manage follow up communication and maintain momentum across active opportunities.
• Support proposals and participate in commercial discussions.
• Initially work alongside senior leadership during later stage sales meetings.
• Build and maintain a sustainable pipeline of prospective United Kingdom clients.
• Progressively take responsibility for managing opportunities from initial outreach through to conversion.
The long term objective is for the successful candidate to become capable of independently originating, developing and converting new business.
Sales Support and Resources
The company provides an established sales infrastructure designed to allow business development professionals to concentrate on selling.
A dedicated Sales Operations team will support you with:
• Defined Ideal Customer Profiles and target markets.
• Target account and contact information.
• Direct telephone numbers and relevant prospect details.
• Customer Relationship Management support.
• Aircall.
• LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
• Email and supporting sales tools.
• Established messaging and scripts.
• Campaign and sales training.
• Ongoing operational support.
This structure reduces the need for extensive prospect research and manual list building, allowing you to focus on conversations, relationship development and progressing commercial opportunities.
Essential Requirements
• Strong experience in outbound business to business sales or new business development.
• Proven ability to generate opportunities through proactive prospecting.
• Excellent cold calling skills and confidence speaking with senior business decision makers.
• A genuine hunter mentality and the ability to create opportunities from scratch.
• Experience conducting discovery and qualification meetings.
• Experience progressing prospects through a structured business to business sales pipeline.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Confidence communicating naturally and credibly with United Kingdom based decision makers.
• Strong commercial judgement and the ability to identify suitable business opportunities.
• Ability to work independently within a fully remote environment.
• Excellent organisational, follow up and pipeline management capabilities.
• Confidence using Customer Relationship Management systems and modern sales technology.
• A commercially focused and results driven approach.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with international colleagues and leadership teams.
• Ambition to develop into an independent business development professional capable of managing the complete sales cycle.
Preferred Experience
• Previous experience selling into the United Kingdom market.
• Experience working within international sales environments.
• Familiarity with Aircall and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
• Experience managing opportunities through multiple stages of a sales process.
• Previous experience selling professional services, technology or other business to business solutions.
Performance Expectations
Success in this role will be measured by the ability to generate and develop genuine commercial opportunities rather than simply booking meetings.
Initially, performance will focus on consistent prospecting activity, meaningful conversations with senior decision makers, qualified meetings and the development of a strong sales pipeline.
As you become established, the role will progressively involve independently managing discovery meetings, progressing qualified opportunities, supporting proposals and participating in commercial discussions.
Over time, the expectation is that you will confidently manage the complete sales process from initial prospecting through to conversion.
Growth Opportunity
This position offers the opportunity to join during the early stages of an international expansion.
As the United Kingdom operation grows and secures additional clients, the company intends to introduce further Sales Development Representative resources.
For the right candidate, this creates the potential to progress into a more senior position with increased responsibility for business development, client acquisition and potentially supporting or leading additional sales professionals.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable being directly involved in outbound sales activities while demonstrating the ambition and capability to develop into a senior commercial role.
If you are an experienced business development professional who enjoys building client relationships and generating new commercial opportunities, we would welcome your application.
